Toyota Earns 8 Top Safety Pick Awards!

Toyota, Lexus, Scion Earn 8 ‘Top Safety Pick’ Awards
Dec. 22, 2010 -- The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) today announced that eight Toyota, Lexus and Scion vehicles were among 66 winners of Top Safety Pick awards for 2011.

Responding to the announcement, Toyota said it “is pleased to have received eight IIHS Top Safety Picks for 2011, which we believe is reflective of our ongoing commitment to developing safe and reliable vehicles for our customers.”

The eight winners are: Toyota Avalon, Corolla, Highlander, Sienna and Venza; Lexus RX, and Scion tC and xB. Only two automakers had more winners: Hyundai/Kia and Volkswagen/Audi each had nine. Sienna was the only minivan to make the list.

Top Safety Pick awards recognize vehicles that do the best job of protecting people in front, side, rollover and rear crashes based on good ratings in IIHS tests. Winners also must have available electronic stability control, a crash avoidance feature that significantly reduces crash risk.

Toyota Earns Number One Spot as Most Considered Brand by Kelley Blue Book
TORRANCE, Calif., Dec. 13, 2010 - - Toyota returned to the top spot in the latest Kelley Blue Book www.kbb.com Q3 2010 Market Intelligence Brand Watch™ study as the most considered auto brand overall among new-car shoppers. Toyota sat atop the Market Intelligence Brand Watch Study from its inception in 2007 through the third-quarter of 2009. After placing second for the past three quarters Toyota has regained its number one perch for the third-quarter of 2010.

Toyota also took top honors as the most considered brand in the non-luxury sedan/coupe/hatchback and non luxury SUV/CUV segments.

“Regaining the number one position by Kelley Blue Book as the most considered auto brand among shoppers is a strong indication that consumers recognize our commitment to earn their confidence in the safety, quality and value of our vehicles,” said Bob Carter, group vice president and general manager, Toyota Division. “Toyota has worked extremely hard to deliver the finest cars and trucks consumers have come to expect for more than 50 years and will continue to do so.”

Kelley Blue Book noted that new-car shoppers, regardless of segment, ranked durability/reliability, fuel efficiency, driving comfort, driving performance and safety as the top five importance factors while shopping for their next new vehicle.

AMAZING!

Diamond in the Rough

Perfect weather. Good food. Pleasant company. A friendly softball game. What more could one ask for on a Sunday morning? The Sales against Service softball game took place this weekend and was quite an event to take part of. Sales took off from the first inning putting up four runs on the board. The early part of the game was sales advantage until a late game charge spearheaded by Bob and the service team showed there was still life. Unfortunately the run deficit was too much to come back from. A good game all around. After the game everyone got to enjoy sandwiches and cool beverages and chat it up a bit. Overall a pleasant day!

Sneak Peak!!!

Holy Smokes!!! Fresh off the desk of Bob "Rocky" Rockov. The new series 8.0 xB from Scion is hitting the floors this month. Keep an eye out for it later this month. It comes with a custom body kit and color all to itself. And get this the xB will debut at the LA Auto Show on the 19th and.... there will only be 2000 of them made. Pretty sweet. Stay tuned as I get more sneak peaks for you in the future!

Only Better!

There have been a lot of exciting changes at Desert Toyota of Tucson. The new 2011s are beginning to come show and I am particularly excited about the new Scion TC. Very sleek and aggressive body style which reminds me a lot of the Lexus line. More horsepower and definitely amped up interior. Along with the 2011s is our November to Remember deals going on. An absolute grandslam and out of the park deals. Which segues to my next topic.... SOFTBALL!

Preparing for a great weekend of non-stop action. The Service vs Sale Softball game is this Sunday at Palo Verde Park. This will be my first game but I can hardly contain myself. It has been a good while since my college baseball glory days. Who knows... maybe I can muster up one last Hurrah!

Lots of excitement happening! November to Remember Sales Event, New 2011s on the lot, Great certified Used cars, and sandlot softball! Doesn't get much better than this!

Tax season

I have always wondered who coined the term tax season it makes me think of hunting season. I have an image of Elmer Fudd with his hunting hat looking for the wabbit. I'm a little off topic. We understand that money is tight and that our uncle same has a little to give back to us this year so we ( Desert Toyota) have made a deal with our local tax preparation company to have your taxes done so you can use it for down payment. Genius I know. I would love to take credit for it but it was Bob idea. So if you are in Tucson or not and you are looking for a New or used Toyota we are the place to get it. I know sounds a little canned, but the truth be told we are a great group of people and we would like to invite you to join our Toyota family.
